Virtual Voyager #3 - Government

Whose the boss?  Your country doesn't run by itself and once you understand who is in power and the definition of that power, you will begin to see how a government impacts society and economy.  Your task is to research your country's government type and define it, to identify your country's leader(s) and their titles, and to summarize the length of time that person(s) is in power.

Begin by using the CIA World Factbook (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/an.html) to look up your country.  When you open your country, click on the government tab.  READ the headings to locate desired information.  Then, using Kids Net (http://encyclopedia.kids.net.au/page/fo/Form_of_government) find your country's government type to learn more about it.

Reflect on the following questions and post your response on the blog.

3 =  List your country's capital city, the date of elections, and the length of service.

2 = Name 2 official leaders and their titles.

1 = In your opinion, what does that government type mean for your country and its people?

2 = President Paul - chief of state, Prime Minister Pierre Damien - head of government

1 = I think the government they have means that the power gets moved around and I think that's good because if someone rules to long it might go to their head and they would try and do not so god stuff plus if the power is moved around you can get fresh new ideas that may be better than the old one's.

It is probley not good for the people because the government might make people study the religion and the people might not blielive in that religion. So that would make the people fight the government and that would be bad.

I don't think I would like the way the government rules just because they have so many laws, and they all are based off of the monarchy way of life, or the Dutch Civil code. I also think that the country doesn't mind just because that's the rules they grew up with, but I don't think I would like a Prime Minister because I don't like the idea of a king ruling over my country. If a republic is run properly, I think the country would be less likely to have uprisings and such. Normally in republics, political affairs are shared with citizens and not the sole concerns of the leaders. People want to know what's happening in the government world, and if they aren't being given the information they want, that causes problems! In a republic, things like that can be avoided more easily.
