Using CIA Photius Ranking (http://www.photius.com/rankings/), click on four different Factbook Data Fields (geographic area, infant mortality rate, oil consumption, GDP - PPP, population, internet users, roadways, people living with HIV/AIDS, life expectancy, oil production, GDP per capita). Find you country's rank (they are in highest to lowest).
Then, record the fields researched, your country's rank, and WHY YOU THINK THAT IS. (You are going to have to use what you know about your country thus far to make an educated guess.)
FOR EXAMPLE: ARGENTINA
1. Internet users in Argentina are estimated 10 million people and ranked 27th in the world. I think Argentina is ranked 27th because it is geographically remote and establishing internet connections outside of major cities is very difficult.
2. Argentina is ranked 24th in roadways with 229,144 km. In addition to the geography limiting the amount of roads in Argentina, I think climate might affect the usefulness of a permanent road. Rain and flooding probably wash out roads. Additionally, due to the climate, the number of vehicles might be limited (warm weather) and people walk, ride animals, or bikes.
3. Argentina produces 745,000 barrels per day ranking 26th in world oil production. The countries producing more oil than Argentina are the typical large oil producers and Argentina would have to have vast oil reserves to keep up with the production of countries like Kuwait.
4. Argentina is ranked 135th in world infant mortality rate. That means per there are approximately 14 infant deaths for every 1,000 live births in Argentina. Other countries ranking higher on the list are undeveloped or developing countries that do not have the resources for supporting infant lives. Argentina must have hospitals and trained medical staff to keep the infant mortality rate low.

For GPD, they are ranked 89th spending $444,440,000,000 each year. I think they spend that much because they need better goods then what they have already, so they can have supplies to rely on.
They are put in 130th place for Internet users, they have about 140,600 people using the internet. I don't they have as many people using it as us, because they are poor and can't afford to get this kind of technology.
The Life Expectancy for these people are 53 years old, placing them in 190th place. I don't think they live long because of their dirty place they live in. Plus the sicknesses they have going around are tough not to catch!

3.Internet Users- #123 (167,000 people). In a remote African nation they would not have a lot of money, technology, and much less good internet service.
4.Population- #59 (18,060,382 people). I think this is because they don't have long lives and a lot of people die from sickness, so the population doesn't increase that fast.

Zambia
Delete1. Zambia is number 188 on the list for life expectancy. They are supposed to live 30 years. I think it is because they live in Africa and work hard their whole lives, and there are barely any medical stations in this country.
2. Zambia is number 120 on the list for most livable places. I think it is because it is very hot their making it hard for plants to grow and a lot of their land was over cropped.
3. Zambia was number 43 on the list for IQ scores, with 59%. I think it is lower because they don't have as many schools and even then some families can't afford it because they need their kids to work.
4. Zambia is 83 on the list for Olympic medals per capita. They get 0 medals per million. I think it is because they don't have very many people to offer in the olympics

ReplyDelete1. 49.18 million people are on the labor force ranking them 13 in the world. I think they are ranked 13 because they are a communist state and people are probably forced to work in the fields and collectives.
2. 117 billion kWh of energy is generated and that ranks them 32 in the world. I think they are ranked 32 because their country is starting to grow and they need more energy for their growing countries.
3. 92,477,857 million people live in Vietnam ranking them 14 in the world. I think they’re ranked 14 because of how large Vietnam is and because of maybe the immigrants and refuges coming there from places like Cambodia.
4. 0% of Vietnam’s power comes from nuclear energy this ranks them at 200 for world ranking. I think this is because Vietnam isn’t as advanced as other countries in nuclear energy, or weapons for that matter.
